Community planning is about public and voluntary services working together with communities to improve the lives of local people.
Empowering communities is part of the Scottish Government Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015. This helps local communities' voices to be heard in the planning and delivery of those services.
Our community planning partners
In North Lanarkshire we have the Community Planning Partnership, which covers the whole area.
We work with our community planning partners to provide strategic direction by agreeing on joint priorities and improving performance, to support better service delivery to local people.
Community boards
In our communities we support community boards operating at a more local level to make sure local people are listened to on decisions that affect them and ensure their ideas on improving the community are heard.
Strategic Leadership Board
At a North Lanarkshire level, a Strategic Leadership Board is in place. This is to ensure that local communities have a strong voice in planning and delivering local services and to target partner agencies’ resources on a larger scale towards the delivery of the shared ambitions and The Plan for North Lanarkshire.
