Council tax exemptions and empty dwellings
An occupied house:
Which is occupied by a person who is a Care Leaver. A Care Leaver is a person who:
- is at least 18 years of age but not yet 26 years of age
- was on that person’s sixteenth birthday or at any subsequent time “looked after” by a local authority, and
- is no longer “looked after” by a local authority
and the occupied house is not the sole or main residence of any person other than:
- another care leaver
- a student
- a student’s spouse or dependant who is not a British Citizen
- a person disregarded for discount purposes on the basis of being severely mentally impaired or a school leaver, or
- a person under the age of 18 years
