Out-of-hours support

Emergency information

We recognise that homelessness and other housing emergencies can happen to anyone at any time.

To make sure that help is available 24-hours a day, we provide an emergency out-of-hours service.

The service operates every day of the year when the housing offices are closed.

To contact the emergency out-of-hours service:

  • freephone 0800 953 2424
  • call at your local police station

They will contact the emergency out-of-hours officer, who will deal with your request for help and provide the necessary advice and information.

If you are homeless the emergency out of hours officer will, if necessary:

  • arrange temporary accommodation for you (and your family)
  • ensure that your belongings are secure
  • arrange transport for you
