We install smoke alarms in all our properties. It's important that they are checked every year to make sure they work correctly and are replaced if necessary.
Our central heating service and maintenance provider, Saltire Facilities Management, carries out annual service checks on our residents' smoke alarms.
It can take as little as 15 minutes for their electrician to check that a valuable life-saving piece of equipment is working or replace the item if it is faulty. This simple test can provide peace of mind to you, your family and even your neighbours.
Unfortunately, some residents don't allow access to their home for the test. If you have gas heating it will be carried out at the same time as the annual gas safety check. However, if you have electric heating it is important that you allow access to have the smoke alarms tested too.
