In July 2025, we were awarded funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver Nearer to Nature – to develop a new way of working to better enhance greenspaces to benefit people and nature.
Spending time in nature is good for us. It supports our health and wellbeing, helps us feel more connected to our communities, and plays an important role in tackling climate change and biodiversity loss.
Nearer to Nature is about making these benefits accessible to everyone, especially in places where opportunities to experience nature may be limited.
Across the programme, we are working to:
- Improve access to nature close to home
- Enhance habitats for wildlife
- Support people to spend more time outdoors
- Encourage community involvement in local green spaces
- Provide lots of different ways to get involved and share your ideas for improvements.
