Taxi and Private Hire Licences

Update on Available Taxi Operator Licences

Further to the notice issued on 1 December 2025, the Council has concluded its review of all expressions of interest received for Taxi Operator Licences within the North, Central and South Licensing Areas.

As a result, there are currently no Taxi Operator Licences available within the North Licensing Area.

However, Taxi Operator Licences remain available within the Central and South Licensing Areas.

Any person seeking to obtain a licence in areas where licences remain available should contact the Licensing Team, who will arrange for an application form to be issued.

Should any licences become available within the North Licensing Area, this notice will be updated accordingly.

Apply or reapply for a taxi or private hire licence.

Please download the application form you require from the list below.

If you are applying for a Private Hire Driver or Taxi Driver Licence, you will be required to complete a local knowledge test as part of the process.

Once you have chosen the correct form, please complete all sections, sign it and the appropriate fee. Send the completed application to the address provided on the form.
