Mavisbank School has received positive feedback following a recent inspection by Education Scotland.

The report highlights the school’s commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all learners.

Inspectors praised the headteacher and senior leadership team for building a strong, collaborative culture rooted in school values and children’s rights. Staff, parents, and pupils feel valued and supported through recent changes, creating a positive atmosphere across the school.

Helen Delaney, Head Teacher of Mavisbank, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the report and feel it truly reflects the values we hold as a school community. Staff, parents, and partners work collectively to ensure that we achieve the best possible outcomes for our young people, and I think that this shines through in our report.”

The report commended staff for consistently modelling high-quality, nurturing relationships, which ensure pupils feel secure, respected, and motivated to learn. Community-based learning experiences were also recognised for helping young people develop confidence, independence, and practical life skills—preparing them well for life beyond school.

A targeted focus on wellbeing has led to excellent attendance rates, with almost all pupils attending regularly. Education Scotland rated the school as ‘very good’ for wellbeing, equality, and inclusion, and ‘good’ for leadership, learning, and achievement.

While the school was encouraged to continue developing progression pathways and offer more opportunities for national qualifications, inspectors expressed confidence in its ability to keep improving.
No further visits are planned, reflecting strong trust in the school’s future progress.

Councillor Michael McBride, Convener of Education, Children and Families at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “This positive outcome is a testament to the dedication of staff and the support of families and the wider community. Mavisbank School is setting a high standard for inclusive education and pupil wellbeing.”
