The highly anticipated screening of a new film about the Antonine Wall will take place on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 7:00pm at Cumbernauld Theatre

The event is open to the public and free to attend, offering a unique opportunity to discover the history and heritage of the iconic Antonine Wall.

"The Antonine Wall: A 37 Mile Landmark" is a captivating film produced as part of the ground-breaking 'Rediscovering the Antonine Wall' project.

The project aims to increase awareness of and engagement with the Antonine Wall by creating new attractions along the wall, as well as developing community engagement initiatives and social media channels.

The film is the culmination of years of dedication and hard work. It draws inspiration from a silent film created in the 1950s by Professor Anne Robertson titled 'Antonine Wall,' providing an updated version for modern audiences.

In addition to the film, the 'Rediscovering the Antonine Wall' project has brought various impressive new attractions to the area. These include the installation of two Roman head sculptures, five replica distance stones, five Roman-inspired play parks, community sculptures, and a Roman Granary Garden.

The project has also created educational resources such as information booklets, replica object handling boxes, and engaging Antonine Wall comics and murals in collaboration with young people.

The 'Rediscovering the Antonine Wall' project was made possible through the generous support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Kelvin Valley & Falkirk LEADER Programme, along with the involvement of the five local authorities traversed by the Antonine Wall and Historic Environment Scotland.

"We are thrilled to present 'The Antonine Wall: A 37 Mile Landmark' film screening of the 'Rediscovering the Antonine Wall' project#, said Lorna Bowden, Planning and Place Manager at North Lanarkshire Council.

"This film is the result of extensive research, community involvement, and a deep passion for preserving the cultural heritage of the Antonine Wall. We invite everyone to join us at Cumbernauld Theatre for an evening of discovery and celebration."
