Queen Elizabeth II

Following the announcement that the day of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday 19 September is a bank holiday, as a mark of respect, all council services will be closed with the exception of essential services such as home support and domestic waste collections.

Open market purchase scheme

For the first time, the council will now consider buying homes from private landlords and allow the tenant to remain in the home as a council tenant to help prevent homelessness and increase the council’s housing stock.
