We have given our annual assurance to the Scottish Housing Regulator that we are meeting our responsibilities to tenants, residents and people who use our housing services.

Housing Convener Councillor Michael McPake has signed the council’s 2026 Annual Assurance Statement, alongside Chief Housing Officers Gillian Whitehead and Cameron Barr, following approval by the Housing Committee.

The statement confirms we are meeting the Scottish Housing Regulator’s requirements, the Scottish Social Housing Charter and its legal duties around housing, homelessness, equality, human rights and tenant and resident safety.

For tenants, this means robust arrangements are in place to help keep homes safe, including regular checks covering gas, electrical, fire, water and lift safety. Contractor performance is also monitored to make sure repairs and investment work meet the required standards.

Councillor Michael McPake, Housing Convener, said: “Our tenants and residents should have confidence that their homes are being properly looked after and that we are doing everything we can to keep them safe.

“This statement is about more than meeting a regulatory requirement. It shows that we have the right checks and processes in place, while recognising there is always more we can do to improve our services and support our communities.”
