Beatson Cancer Charity has received a £2,500 donation from The Well Foundation, following this year’s North Lanarkshire Half Marathon.
Members of The Well Foundation took part in races at the event at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in August, raising funds for the charity. The cheque was presented to Beatson Cancer Charity representatives at a special presentation attended by Provost Kenneth Duffy and Communities Convener Geraldine Woods.
Provost Kenneth Duffy said: “It’s inspiring to see participants using the Half Marathon to raise money for worthwhile causes. Congratulations to The Well Foundation and everyone who helped raise this fantastic donation for Beatson Cancer Charity.”
The donation will support the charity’s work helping people and families affected by cancer across Scotland.
Councillor Geraldine Woods, Convener of Communities, added: “It’s fantastic to see the impact of the North Lanarkshire Half Marathon continuing beyond the finish line. This generous donation is a great example of people coming together to support an important cause. Thank you to everyone involved.”
Fahim Baqir, CEO and Founder of The Well Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to present £2,500 to Beatson Cancer Charity. Taking part in the Half Marathon was a fantastic experience, and I’m immensely proud of everyone from The Well Foundation who got involved and helped raise this money.
“The event created a real sense of community, and we’re pleased our involvement can make a meaningful contribution to the important work of Beatson Cancer Charity.”
Representatives from Beatson Cancer Charity thanked The Well Foundation and everyone who took part in the fundraising effort.
