Almost £100,000 of funding is set to support community and voluntary organisations across Cumbernauld and the wider area, with 19 organisations recommended for awards through this year’s Campsies Grant Award Programme.

The announcement follows a highly competitive process that attracted 30 applications seeking more than £213,000 for their initiatives.

The awards will support 78 projects and activities spanning a wide range of community priorities, from tackling poverty and improving health and wellbeing to supporting children and families, older people and environmental improvement.

“The projects will benefit residents in communities including Abronhill, Carbrain, Kildrum, Seafar, Greenfaulds, Condorrat, Ravenswood, Craigmarloch, Cumbernauld Village, Westfield, Palacerigg and the wider town centre,” said Councillor Geraldine Woods, Convener of Communities.

“The funding will support foodbank services, debt and energy advice, income maximisation, community meals, crisis support and measures designed to reduce financial barriers to participation.”

Among the organisations recommended for funding are CACE, which will receive £7,610.92 for its Public Living Room model; Cornerstone House, receiving £9,998 for its Cumbernauld Skills Kitchen; Cumbernauld Poverty Action, receiving £8,208 for expanded crisis and income-maximisation support; and The Conservation Volunteers, receiving £9,002.50 for outdoor wellbeing and environmental stewardship.

Other successful projects include a weekly community brunch café run by Cumbernauld & Carbrain Community Hub; community garden restoration by Cumbernauld Academy Parent Council; foodbank and community café provision from Cumbernauld Resilience; and foodbank and recovery support from Freedom City Church.

In addition, Carbrain Community Events received £3,877.50 to organise fun school holiday and family activities for people in the area.

The programme will also help bring communities together through creative projects marking Cumbernauld’s 70th anniversary, heritage activity, youth development and opportunities for young people to build confidence.

Councillor Woods added: “There is a strong focus on inclusion, with projects supporting disabled people, people with long-term health conditions and people experiencing social isolation or mental health challenges.

“Activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of Cumbernauld will provide the opportunity to create a positive legacy, along with the direct benefits these projects will bring.”

Paula from Carbrain Community Events said: “As a small volunteer-led group, this support means a great deal to us and the families we serve.

“The funding will help us continue providing free, inclusive events that give local children opportunities to have fun, make friends and create lasting memories, while helping families enjoy activities together without financial pressure.

“We are incredibly proud that our application was successful and grateful to our dedicated volunteers, partners and supporters who make our work possible. Thank you to the council and the Campsies funding programme for their support.”

Mary McNeil, Manager of Cornerstone House Centre, added: "This funding will support our Saturday Skills Kitchen programme, which provides participants with practical cooking preparation and independent living skills in a supportive environment.”

To raise awareness of and improve access to the Campsies Grant Award Programme, the Community Partnership Team delivered two information workshops in April 2026, attended by 12 community organisations.

Funding information, eligibility criteria and application guidance were shared with community groups across Cumbernauld.

Capacity-building support was available throughout the application period, with more than 50 groups and organisations receiving information, advice or assistance to help them engage with the programme.

All applications were subject to robust assessment before any final funding decisions on applications were made.
