Three local companies have been recognised for their commitment to high standards of excellence.

Building Finishing Services, Turning Point Scotland and PMA Recruitment Services received our Employer Charter accreditation.

The charter is based around four commitments by employers: to pay all staff the Real Living Wage; employ North Lanarkshire residents; use local businesses in the supply chain where possible; and ensure fair work practices which attract and retain employees.

Businesses which achieve two or more of these commitments receive a bronze, silver or gold accreditation.

North Lanarkshire Provost Kenneth Duffy visited the companies to present them with the Employer Charter.

“Congratulations to everyone at the three businesses on achieving the Employer Charter and making a commitment to investing in employees, being a positive employer and a responsible business,” said Councillor Duffy.

“The Employer Charter delivers benefits for both employers and employees as well as supporting our continuing work to develop a sustainable, diverse economy in North Lanarkshire.”

Membership of the charter is free. More information is available at northlanarkshiresworking.co.uk/the-nl-employer-charter/

Building Finishing Services, Bellshill – Gold award

Building Finishing Services was established in 2018 and specialises in internal and external repairs for homes and properties across Central Scotland. The business employs over 50 tradespeople including plumbers, electricians, joiners, plasterers, and rough casters and takes pride in completing property repairs and renovations promptly while maintaining high-quality standards.

The company demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental responsibility by delivering sustainable construction and project management solutions. Their approach is budget-conscious, focused on reducing CO₂ emissions through waste minimisation and repair-led practices, and firmly rooted in planet-friendly values.

They are dedicated to creating meaningful employment and work experience opportunities for young people across North Lanarkshire, actively collaborating with North Lanarkshire’s Working and Routes to Work. The business maintains strong connections with local schools, including St Andrew’s High and Firpark School.

A commitment to community engagement is evident through the company’s support of local charities, including assisting St Andrew’s Hospice to refurbish its new premises in Coatbridge.

Turning Point Scotland, Coatbridge – Silver award

Turning Point Scotland is a social care organisation dedicated to empowering individuals across Scotland to build meaningful community connections and lead active, engaged lives. In North Lanarkshire, TPS delivers a diverse range of services, with a strong focus on crisis outreach, harm reduction, and support for those affected by alcohol and other drug use.

The organisation actively engages with local schools, including St Margaret’s High and Coatbridge High, and participates in initiatives such as National Apprenticeship Week. TPS also continues its collaborative work with Routes to Work, reinforcing its commitment to employability and skills development.

In February 2024, the organisation hosted a successful Service Launch Event, welcoming over 100 attendees to a community-focused day featuring stalls from key partners such as Phoenix Futures, the Scottish Fire Brigade, and North Lanarkshire Recovery Community. This event highlighted TPS’s dedication to partnership working and strengthening local engagement.

Further demonstrating its commitment to accessible care, TPS opened a new Clinical Room in Airdrie in July 2024. Designed to GP surgery standards, the facility enhances access to primary healthcare for individuals experiencing problematic substance use.

TPS also fosters a culture of community involvement through staff volunteering opportunities, underscoring its values of inclusion, compassion, and active citizenship.

PMA Recruitment Services, Cumbernauld – Silver award
