Children and families in Coltness have welcomed the official opening of the replacement play area in the village.
The facility replaces the previous play park in Waverley Drive, Coltness, fondly known locally as the Donkey Park.
Children who were involved in designing the new play area, along with pupils from nearby St Ignatius Primary School, were invited to celebrate the opening of the facility.
Councillor Geraldine Woods, Convener of Communities, along with local councillors Fiona Fotheringham and Frank McKay, also attended the opening event.
The project was developed by the Community Partnership Team, working closely with pupils from local primary schools and the wider community.
The play area features a bespoke multiplay unit designed in the shape of a donkey, in line with the community’s wishes.
This includes a double-width slide, a tunnel bridge, a climbing ramp and a climbing pole. The facility also includes a junior multiplay unit with a large slide, climbing wall and net, as well as a range of swings, including a basket swing, an inclusive roundabout, a trampoline, a springer and a pyramid rope climber.
A new picnic bench has also been installed to provide seating for adults and families to enjoy the park.
Funding came from the Local Development Programme, which is managed by the council’s Community Partnership Team.
The play area sign was designed by Lily Fercakova (P4) and Evlyn Rinto (P6) of St Ignatius Primary School, who won the ‘Design-a-Sign’ competition and officially opened the park.
