A recent event brought together local organisations and contractors to promote the benefits of collaboration.
Over the past year, companies holding live contracts with the council were matched with requests for support from community groups across the area.
Key success stories Include:
- YAMS Mental Health Hub received funding to deliver additional mental health sessions in schools.
- Kirkshaws Neighbourhood Centre benefited from a contractor painting its premises, creating a more welcoming environment.
- Holytown Environmental Group received new shelving for its storage container.
- Three local groups gained laptops and mobile phones to support outreach sessions and respond to online support requests.
- Other matches included support for healthy walking sessions, funding for community events, and environmental improvements such as enhancing community gardens and upgrading local underpasses.
At the event representatives from businesses with council contracts—such as Circular IT, JH Civil Engineering, and Clark Contracts—shared how these partnerships have strengthened relationships with the voluntary sector.
Over the past year, the Council’s Community Partnership, New Supply, City Deal, Business Partnership, Hub Delivery, and Enterprise teams have collaborated to establish a new City Region Community Benefits Hub.
And looking ahead, the official launch of the Community Benefits Hub is scheduled for early 2026, with plans to expand the network of suppliers to meet even more community requests.
Councillor Geraldine Woods, Communities Convener, said: “The Community Benefits Hub is a great example of how collaboration between businesses and local organisations can deliver real, tangible benefits for our communities.
“We’re determined to providing improved facilities and services and building stronger connections that make North Lanarkshire a better place for everyone.”
