Excitement is building as the country prepares for the World Cup.
To mark Scotland’s achievement, primary schools across North Lanarkshire were invited to take part in a flag‑design competition, encouraging pupils to create artwork that captures the pride and passion of supporting the national team.
Each participating school selected a winning design, which has now been transformed into a full‑sized flag and proudly displayed at Broadwood Stadium and Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility.
The project is part of the build-up to the World Cup Warm-up event at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on Saturday 13 June, a family fun day celebrating Scotland’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As part of the celebrations, the event team visited Whitelees Primary School in Cumbernauld, where Primary 1 pupils were busy crafting their colourful creations.
Senior pupils in Primary 6 and 7 also showcased their finished designs, demonstrating an impressive mix of imagination, teamwork, and national pride.
The World Cup Warm-Up children’s fun day promises an afternoon of football‑themed activities, entertainment, and community celebration.
While tickets have now sold out, the organisers emphasise that the heart of the event lies in the involvement of local young people and the pride they’ve shown in supporting Scotland on the world stage.
