A local business is celebrating being the 100th to achieve our Employer Charter accreditation.
Murray Landscapes received a Gold Award, the highest recognition of the scheme, which shows an exceptional commitment to fair work principles.
The Employer Charter is based around four commitments by employers: to pay all staff the Real Living Wage; employ North Lanarkshire residents; use local businesses in the supply chain where possible; and ensure fair work practices which attract and retain employees. Businesses which achieve two or more of these commitments receive a bronze, silver or gold accreditation.
Murray Landscapes is a multi‑award‑winning, family‑run landscaping company based in Motherwell and operating across Scotland.
Established in 2009, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high‑quality modern outdoor living spaces for domestic clients, alongside professional grounds maintenance services for commercial partners. The company prides itself on providing a safe, reliable and customer‑focused service, backed by a skilled, fully trained team.
Since 2016, they have supported local people, schools, charities, grassroots sport, and well-being initiatives through a program of hands-on volunteering and practical help. Their contribution spans schools, nurseries, hospitals, charities, and community groups, consistently offering their time, skills, and resources to make a positive impact.
“Congratulations to Murray Landscapes on achieving their Gold Award and on becoming our 100th Employer Charter recipient,” Provost Kenneth Duffy said.
“We are proud that so many local businesses have shown a commitment to investing in their employees and being a responsible business by applying for the charter. It offers a range of support and networking events to help businesses grow and develop.”
Also receiving a Gold Award is Hochtief, one of the world's largest infrastructure and engineering groups. From its Bargeddie base, the company delivers a range of infrastructure maintenance services for North Lanarkshire Council.
These include the maintenance and repair of roads and footpaths, the inspection and upkeep of bridges and underpasses, and the provision of winter maintenance services to help keep the transport network safe and operational throughout the year. The company also manages the council's street lighting infrastructure, traffic management systems, and maintenance of three reservoirs.
Another two local companies have recently received Bronze Awards.
Carrick Sports Construction, based in Wardpark, Cumbernauld, is a specialist sports and environmental construction company, part of the internationally recognised STRI Group.
Established in 2018, the company delivers high-quality sports pitch construction, drainage, irrigation and environmental infrastructure projects across the UK, supporting facilities from local community sports grounds to elite sporting venues.
Carrick's continued growth in Cumbernauld highlights the area's contribution to specialist construction and engineering sectors while supporting skilled employment opportunities and economic development in North Lanarkshire.
Located in East Kilbride, CF Services provides furnishing, flooring and white goods, offering a complete “one-stop-shop” service for homes and organisations. Established in 1997, the company works primarily with local authorities, housing associations, and care organisations, helping to equip properties quickly and efficiently.
With a strong focus on improving living standards, CF Services combines quality products, trained staff, and responsive services (including emergency delivery) to support tenants and vulnerable communities. Overall, the organisation aims to “improve homes and change lives” through reliable, end-to-end furnishing and flooring solutions. They won the 2025 Lanarkshire Business Excellence Award for Lanarkshire’s Best Business 51+ Employees.
Provost Kenneth Duffy congratulated the three businesses on receiving Employer Charter accreditation: “Well done to everyone at Hochtief, Carrick Sports Construction and CF Services for their contribution to reaching the standards of excellence required by the Employer Charter.
“It delivers benefits for both employers and employees as well as supporting our continuing work to develop a sustainable, diverse economy in North Lanarkshire.”
