Lanarkshire proudly hosted one of only 15 'Together at Christmas' Community Carol Services taking place across the UK this festive season, and one of just three held in Scotland. Supported by The Royal Foundation, the event forms part of an initiative led by The Princess of Wales to recognise the quiet heroes who strengthen communities through kindness, compassion and connection.

Held at Bellshill and Bothwell Parish Church on Tuesday 9 December, nearly 400 invited guests came together for an uplifting evening of carols, readings and reflection. Musicians, community groups and voluntary organisations joined in celebration of those whose dedication makes a real difference across Lanarkshire.

The event mirrors the spirit of The Princess of Wales’ annual Westminster Abbey service, which will be broadcast on Christmas Eve, welcoming people of all faiths and none, and shining a light on friendship and community bonds.

Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Lady Susan Haughey CBE, said: “This beautiful service brought people together in the true spirit of Christmas to celebrate those whose kindness strengthens our communities every day. It was a joy to welcome so many groups and individuals who give so much to others.

“I’d like to also extend a warm thanks to all the outstanding performers, staff, volunteers and attendees who made the evening such a success. Lanarkshire is a place shaped by compassion and togetherness, and tonight reflected that perfectly.”

Guests included local volunteers, charities, youth groups and individuals who go above and beyond to support others.
