International Women’s Day on Wednesday 8 March will see 100 Lanarkshire businesswomen come together for a technology themed event.

Organised by Lanarkshire Women in Business, the event will take place at New College Lanarkshire’s Motherwell campus.

The morning session will celebrate women working across Lanarkshire’s growing tech sector and help enhance the digital knowledge of aspiring and existing female business owners.

The format includes a facilitated panel Q&A session. This will be headed up by women working across the tech sector in Lanarkshire, demonstrating the breadth of business activities the industry encompasses.

The panel will include:

  • Dr Cait Murray Green, CEO of Strategic Scientific Consulting and
    CEO/Co-founder of Eco Cascade
  • Caroline Barrett, MD of Omni Group
  • Dawn-Anne McAneny, Director of Data Pepper Ltd
  • Carolann Miller, Head of Pre-Sales, Commsworld Ltd

Following this, attendees will have the chance to participate in a series of 15-minute ‘Tech Talk’ breakout sessions, designed to share helpful insights in key areas of advancing technologies:

  • cyber security
  • collaborative robots
  • artificial intelligence

Councillor Ayeshah Khan, Convener of the Enterprise and Fair Work Committee, said: “The tech sector is a thriving and growing one in Lanarkshire. This upcoming event will confirm that women are increasingly playing a pivotal role in creating that success.

“Here we see women making valuable contributions in the fields of bio-technology, digital technology and construction/engineering technology.

“We want to foster that ambition and see that translate into more girls and women pursuing STEM pathways and careers within this sector, whether as business owners or employees.”

Business Gateway Lanarkshire will feature on the speaker line-up and New College Lanarkshire will provide advice on help with apprenticeships and the Workforce Development Fund.

The event will close with a networking lunch.
