A major £3.3 million investment will bring modern, reliable and accessible lift systems to five high-rise blocks in Motherwell, as the council awarded the final phase of its major lift replacement programme to ADL Lift Services Ltd.
This significant upgrade will see ten outdated lifts replaced at Avon, Calder, Clyde, Elvan and Woodside Towers, enhancing everyday life for hundreds of residents and reinforcing the council’s commitment to modernising its housing stock.
The project will begin in May 2025 and run for 125 weeks. It includes the complete removal and installation of new lifts, but will also provide other community benefits including new apprenticeship opportunities for local young people, educational visits, and support for local projects.
Councillor Michael McPake, Convener of Housing, said: "This is another important step in our ongoing commitment to improving housing conditions across North Lanarkshire. Investing in essential infrastructure like these lifts ensures our towers remain safe, accessible and fit for purpose while we continue our longer-term housing and towers transformation plans."
“This contract reflects our continued drive to provide high-quality, sustainable homes and improve the wellbeing of residents by delivering safer, more modern living environments.”
