A special event took place to celebrate the outstanding achievements of 15 ‘No Limits’ trainees who are now taking the next step on their employment journey by moving into work or college.
Families, employers and partners, who offered support throughout the year, gathered at Forgewood Community Centre to mark their achievement as the students successfully completed the ‘No Limits’ programme, a nine-month paid training path for young people with additional support needs.
Designed and delivered by Supported Enterprise and funded by No One Left Behind, the programme, in addition to delivering a 25 hour per week work placement also incorporates training and activity sessions to boost social and employment skills, giving young people the best start into employment.
Wilma Davie, Head Teacher from Chapelside Primary School, Airdrie, hosted a placement for one of our trainees, Lorna. Wilma said: ‘I have been blown away by how much we have seen our young person blossom and become such a valued member of our team. The regular reviews with their coach keep everyone informed and on the right path. This is education at its best.”
Sharing her experience, Lorna added: “No Limits helped me get a job at Chapelside Primary School and it let me do and learn things I didn’t even think I could do.”
Andrew McPherson, Depute Chief Executive of North Lanarkshire Council, added: “This is a fabulous programme designed specifically to support young people who may face barriers in securing training and employment, providing them with the skills needed to succeed in the world of work.
“It takes a team to achieve this success. The parents and guardians who support the students throughout their course, the expertise of our job coaches who are on hand to offer advice, the businesses who sign up to support our service, and of course the trainees who work so hard to succeed. We’re all changing lives and building brighter futures.
“Well done to our outstanding students and the best of luck as you move on to an exciting new chapter in your lives.”
