Pupils and local people are set to benefit from a new state-of-the-art Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at Westfield Primary School, which is now fully complete and open for use.
The new facility provides a high-quality space for a wide range of sports and physical activities, helping to encourage active lifestyles among young people and the wider community.
The new facility includes a 100-metre oval running track, a 50-metre sprint straight, line markings for football, netball, basketball and tennis, full-size basketball hoops and football goals, additional lower basketball hoops for cross-court play, cross-court football facilities, and four sit-and-stand benches for resting and spectating.
The MUGA will provide an excellent space for pupils to take part in sport and physical activity during the school day. Outside school hours, it will also serve as a valuable community resource for local residents to enjoy.
Councillor Michael McBride, Convener of Education, said: "The completion of the new MUGA at Westfield Primary School is fantastic news for pupils, staff and the wider community. This impressive facility provides more opportunities for young people to get active, develop new skills and enjoy taking part in sport in a safe and modern environment.

Designed with a durable polymeric surface, the MUGA supports athletics, football, netball, basketball and tennis.
The sports facility is finished in the school's colours of red, white and grey and also features the Westfield Primary School name and badge at the centre of the court in a NBA-inspired design.
