The new St Kevin’s Community Hub in Bargeddie has been hailed as a “fabulous” facility by the council leader following a recent visit there.
Councillor Jim Logue and Stephen Llewellyn, Depute Chief Executive of the council, were welcomed to the impressive new building by pupils who took them around the hub and showcased everything it has to offer.
“It’s a fabulous facility for the entire community, set in a wonderful semi-rural location. It was clear to see how much the pupils are enjoying their new home, and it was great to hear what they liked best about it,” said Councillor Logue.
“Our community spaces are here for everyone to use and are designed to support more connected communities,” he added.
“The new community hub represents a major investment in Bargeddie and reflects our commitment to providing first-class learning environments that support both education and community life.”
The £17.3million building is the latest development in the council’s town and community hub programme.
St Stephen’s Community Hub in Coatbridge and Gartcosh Community Hub are set to open later this year along with the extension to Chryston High School.
The building features a wide range of high-quality facilities including a family and nurture room, drama box, cooking lab and e-learning zone, all designed to support learning, creativity and wellbeing.
“Our pupils and staff have settled in really well here,” said Pauline Doran, acting head teacher of St Kevin’s Primary. “The new building allows us to deliver a far wider range of learning experiences.
“Our bright and spacious classrooms open into shared activity areas equipped with booths and flexible furniture tailored to different learning styles and needs. And the excellent outdoor facilities that encourage physical activity, play and social interaction.”
