Glenboig Primary School has received a positive report following a recent visit from Education Scotland inspectors.
The inspection, which took place in April 2025, highlighted the school’s warm and welcoming environment, dedicated staff and strong leadership.
Inspectors praised the pupils for being polite, well-mannered, and proud members of the school community.
They also noted the positive and nurturing atmosphere created by staff, which helps children feel safe and ready to learn.
A key highlight of the report was the impact of the newly appointed headteacher, who supports a collaborative approach to improving learning. Staff were described as highly motivated and focused on achieving the best outcomes for pupils.
Alexander Thom, Head Teacher of Glenboig Primary School said: “I am absolutely delighted for the children, staff, parents and partners who all work as one team to make Glenboig Primary the nurturing and ambitious school that it is. Our brilliant children shared with the inspection team how proud they are of our school and of their achievements. This report celebrates the dedication of our school staff and wider team who ensure every child is supported every day to shine bright.”
The school’s strong partnerships with the wider community were also commended. These partnerships have helped create a wide range of activities that support children in developing important life skills like teamwork and creativity.
Councillor Michael McBride, Convener of Education, Children and Families, welcomed the report, saying: “I’d like to congratulate everyone at Glenboig Primary School on achieving this positive report. The dedication of the headteacher and staff is clear, and it’s fantastic to see the pupils thriving in such a positive environment.
“We’re proud of the progress being made and will continue to support the school as it builds on this success.”
Education Scotland rated the school’s performance as “satisfactory” in both learning and teaching, and in raising attainment and achievement.
And while the report identified a few areas for improvement—such as refining assessment methods and ensuring consistency in teaching—inspectors said that they had confidence in the school’s ability to continue improving.
