A special 100th birthday celebration in Wishaw has been made even more memorable thanks to a visit from North Lanarkshire’s Provost and Dr Morrison Young, Depute Lord Lieutenant.

Ann Logan, who recently turned 100, was delighted to welcome Provost Kenneth Duffy to her home as part of her milestone celebrations.

Family members said the visit meant a great deal to Ann, who was a little nervous beforehand but was quickly put at ease.

She said: “I’ve led a pretty quiet life but a happy one. It was great to be made so special on my birthday and I’m so grateful to everyone for making it so memorable.

“I am completely overwhelmed by the charity donations and would like to say a big thank you to all who contributed”

“They spent time chatting with my mum like long-lost friends,” added her son, Iain. “They made her feel very special and completely relaxed. The visit was very much appreciated by all the family.”

Ann was also presented with flowers and a certificate to mark her birthday, which she now has proudly displayed in her home.

“It was a real honour to share this special day with Ann and her family – she really is an inspiration to everyone,” said Provost Kenneth Duffy.

The celebrations continued on Sunday at McAlpine Court, where family, friends and residents came together to help Ann mark her big day.

The event also raised an impressive £650 for Dementia Scotland, adding a generous fundraising achievement to the celebrations.
