Residents, visitors and businesses are being asked for their views on maintaining and improving transport systems across North Lanarkshire.
We have launched a public consultation on a new Local Transport Strategy.
A first stage consultation was carried out between November 2024 and February 2025, with the feedback used to create a draft strategy. This document outlines our vision, objectives and plans for developing connected transport solutions over the next ten years.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed to our first consultation and helped us prepare a draft Local Transport Strategy,” said Councillor Helen Loughran, Convener of the Environment and Climate Change Committee.
“Our transport network plays a vital role in connecting communities, supporting economic growth, and facilitating everyday travel so it impacts directly on everyone’s lives.
“The new strategy needs to take account of changing travel needs, environmental challenges, national policies and local priorities to ensure the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors are met.”
A survey, the draft strategy and supporting documents are available online at Shaping North Lanarkshire's Transport Future | North Lanarkshire Council until 8 February 2026. Paper copies of the survey and the draft strategy are also available at local libraries.
