Stane Primary School pupils have received Dynamic Youth Awards in recognition of their achievements in the Junior Cop, Good Citizen initiative.
The Primary 7 pupils took part in interactive workshops on the effects and legal consequences of drug and alcohol misuse, then passed on their learning to younger pupils at three other local schools.
The project was run by our Youth Work team, Police Scotland Lanarkshire’s prevention officers, and Calderhead High School campus officer.
“Congratulations to all the pupils who took part in this project,” said Councillor Michael McBride, Convener of the Education, Children and Families Committee, who visited the school to help present the awards.
“As well as learning about the dangers of drug and alcohol misuse and how to make positive life choices, they gained new skills and experience in leadership and public speaking.”
Head Teacher, Laura Simpson, said: “I am incredibly proud of our Primary 7 pupils and their teacher Mrs Robert for their enthusiasm, maturity and commitment throughout this project. Their leadership in sharing important messages with children and young people across our cluster schools has been inspiring and reflects the values we promote at Stane Primary.”
