Pupils and staff at Holytown Primary School have plenty to celebrate after being reaccredited as a Gold Rights Respecting School for the second time.
The Gold Award, presented through the Rights Respecting Schools programme by UNICEF UK, recognises schools where children’s rights are fully embedded in everyday life. Being reaccredited at this level shows that the school has not only met these high standards before but has continued to strengthen and embed them over time.
Councillor Michael McBride, Convener of Education, Children and Families, congratulated the school on its success: “This is a wonderful achievement for Holytown Primary School. Achieving Gold status for a second time reflects the strong values at the heart of the school and the commitment of staff and pupils to creating a positive, respectful environment where children’s rights truly matter.”
Head Teacher Emma Dalziel added: “We are absolutely delighted to have been reaccredited as a Gold Rights Respecting School. This award reflects the hard work of our pupils, staff and families, and the positive ethos we have built together. Children’s rights are central to everything we do, and we are very proud of what our school community has achieved.
“Mr Campbell and Mrs McCulloch, who lead our work around children’s rights, are now planning a colour run for later in the session to celebrate our achievement and to launch our Rights Respecting Rainbow across the school.”
The reaccreditation highlights Holytown Primary School’s ongoing commitment to ensuring every child feels safe, valued and listened to, where respect and responsibility are part of everyday life.
