Communities across North Lanarkshire are seeing the benefits of stronger collaboration, deeper community involvement and a clear focus on tackling inequality, according to a new annual report published by the North Lanarkshire Community Planning Partnership.
The Annual Oversight and Improving Outcomes Report 2024–2025 highlights how partners from the public, voluntary and community sectors have worked together over the past year to improve local outcomes, empower residents and strengthen opportunities across all nine community board areas.
The report shows continued progress in meeting statutory duties under the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015, with a strong emphasis on increasing community participation in decision-making and service design.
“Local Outcomes Improvement Plans and targeted Locality Improvement Plans have played a key role in ensuring support is focused on communities facing the greatest challenges,” explains Councillor Geraldine Woods, Convener of the Communities Committee.
“Together we are supporting people back into work, promoting community climate and green wellbeing projects, improving community safety and working to transform our health services across the area.”
Among the key achievements highlighted are the successful rollout of Local Outcomes Improvement Plans across every community board area, supported by strengthened local partnership teams and enhanced local improvement planning.
The partnership has also advanced its ambitious Community Wealth Building approach, developing a comprehensive multi-agency implementation plan to support fair work, inclusive growth and greater local economic resilience.
Significant progress has also been made through the Local Employability Partnership, with partners working closely together to expand opportunities for priority groups and support more people into sustainable and inclusive employment.
Councillor Geraldine Woods added: “This report clearly demonstrates the positive impact that strong partnership working can have on people’s lives.
“By listening to our communities and working together across organisations, we are making real progress in tackling inequality, strengthening local voices and improving outcomes where it matters most.
“I’m particularly encouraged by the continued focus on empowerment and inclusive growth, which are central to building a fairer and more prosperous North Lanarkshire for everyone.”
The report also confirms strong alignment with The Plan for North Lanarkshire, the partnership’s long-term vision for improving wellbeing and reducing inequalities.
The Annual Oversight and Improving Outcomes Report 2024–2025 was presented to the Communities Committee on Monday 9 February 2026.
