Pupils, staff and the wider school community at Tannochside Primary School and Nursery are celebrating a very positive HMIE inspection report.
Inspectors found that children across the primary school and nursery are motivated and engaged in their learning, proud of their achievements and proud to be part of their school community. The report also highlighted the positive and respectful relationships between staff and pupils, describing the school as a nurturing environment where children feel safe, included and ready to learn.
Inspectors also praised the school’s work to support families and tackle inequality, including its breakfast club, school uniform provision, family activities, food bank and other support. The report found that children and families feel well supported and included.
Education Convener Councillor Michael McBride visited the school to congratulate pupils and staff on the report. He said: “This is a really positive report and a wonderful reflection of the hard work taking place every day at Tannochside Primary and Nursery.
“Clare Ferrie and her staff team have created a caring, welcoming school where children are encouraged to be themselves, enjoy learning and take pride in what they achieve. It was great to visit the school, meet the pupils and congratulate everyone on the report. The commitment of the staff, including the nursery team, shines through, and it’s clear there is a real sense of community here.
“There is plenty to celebrate, and I’d like to thank Clare, all the staff, pupils, parents and carers for the part they play in making Tannochside such a positive place for children to learn and grow.”
Headteacher Clare Ferrie added: “We’re very pleased with the findings of the inspection and so proud of our pupils and the whole Tannochside community.
“Our children are at the heart of everything we do. They are curious, kind and enthusiastic learners, and it was lovely to see their achievements and positive relationships recognised in the report. I’d like to thank our fantastic staff for their hard work and commitment, and our parents and carers for the support they give us. We’re a strong school community and we’ll continue working together to build on this positive report and give our children the very best opportunities.”
Inspectors said they were confident the school has the capacity to continue to improve and confirmed that there will be no further visits in connection with this inspection.
