Council tenants from across North Lanarkshire came together on Saturday 31 October for the Annual Tenants Conference, sharing ideas, hearing about the latest developments and helping shape the future of housing services.
Held at the fantastic new Orbiston Community Hub in Bellshill, this year’s conference had a Halloween theme, adding a little seasonal fun to a day focused on community, partnership and positive change.
The conference, themed ‘Shaping Communities: Then, Now & Next’, provided an opportunity to look back at achievements and improvements over the past year, hear about work currently under way and discuss priorities for the future.
Provost Kenneth Duffy joined tenants, council staff, elected members and partners at the event.
The programme covered a range of important topics, including tenant engagement and how feedback is helping shape services, developments in retirement housing, the digital connectivity masterplan, the estates improvement pilot and future community priorities.
Tenants also heard from the people behind housing services, took part in discussions and had the chance to put questions directly to the housing team. A rent consultation session provided a further opportunity to have their say on an important issue affecting their homes and communities.
Housing Convener Councillor Michael McPake thanked everyone who helped make the event a success. He said: “Our tenants are at the heart of everything we do, and events like this are an important opportunity to listen, share ideas and work together.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved in organising the conference, as well as all the tenants who took the time to come along and contribute.
“Your views, experiences and suggestions help us shape our housing services and make a real difference to communities across North Lanarkshire.
“We want to keep these conversations going, so I’d encourage tenants to look out for future participation events and opportunities to get involved. Your voice matters, and we want to hear from you.”
