Tenants are now settling into their new council homes in Millerston following the completion of our latest housing development.
The 17 new properties at Coshneuk Road, on the site of a former council depot, form part of our new supply programme which aims to deliver 6,000 homes by 2035 for tenants across North Lanarkshire.
These new homes boast a range of energy efficiency features including air source heat pumps which help reduce emissions and allow tenants to store heat and control hot water, making heating their homes more comfortable and efficient. In addition, they feature triple glazed windows and high levels of insulation as well as solar panels.
Our new homes are built to the highest design standards with features including Housing for Varying Needs, meaning they adapt to suit future needs and are Secure by Design, improving safety and security.
Housing Convener, Councillor Michael McPake and Councillor John McLaren were joined by representatives and officers from the JR Group and from the council’s housing team to mark the completion.
Councillor McPake said: “It’s always pleasing to see tenants moving into another one of our fantastic housing developments. We’ve transformed a derelict site at a great location in the heart of a thriving community which is close to local amenities.
“We’re continuing the excellent progress we’ve made, providing more affordable homes for tenants across the area, regenerating communities, creating jobs and boosting the local economy. Over 2,600 homes have been delivered through our new supply programme, off the shelf purchases from private developers and our Open Market Purchase Scheme.
“We’re building homes for our tenants now and for generations to come. It’s all part of our ambition to make North Lanarkshire the place to live.”
The development, the first delivered by the JR Group, cost £4.2m and received an £1.887m grant funding from the Scottish Government.
Gary McGregor, Managing Director of the JR Group, added: “We’re proud to have delivered these quality homes for North Lanarkshire Council – our first project with them and in the region.
“This milestone project supports North Lanarkshire Council’s ambitious strategy to deliver 6,000 homes by 2035, and we’re honoured to play a role in helping bring that vision to life.”
