The conference, which took place at Chryston Community Hub, saw tenants from across the area come together to share their views, take part in question and answer sessions and hear about the difference they are making across their local communities. We were at full capacity with over 160 tenants and staff, and over 20 marketplace stalls.  

The theme for this year’s conference was ‘Strong Foundations’ and key topics for discussion included hearing about the housing team’s future priorities that will positively impact on tenants and their homes, digital support for tenants and future proofing homes.  

The conference not only looks to the exciting future ahead for housing services but also highlights the key achievements and impact that tenants, working alongside staff, have made across communities over the past year.  

Housing Convener, Councillor Michael McPake, opened the conference. He said: “The conference is one of the tenant participation highlights of the year. It’s great to see so many people with a shared interest coming together to talk about issues that matter to them and taking forward plans to make a difference across North Lanarkshire’s communities. This year's theme focussed on building on the already solid foundations laid by housing services, tenants and other organisations who work together to benefit local people, and I look forward to seeing this in action. 

“Well done to every tenant who came along and played their part and to the staff who organise such a fabulous event year on year. I’m looking forward to another busy year of housing plans being rolled out." 

A range of stalls at our popular marketplace provided attendees with information and advice and included our Income Maximisation Team, Health and Social Care, Energy Advice, Mears, Saltire and local housing services. 

One tenant attending commented: “I absolutely enjoyed my invitation to the Tenants Conference today. The event was very well organised and I felt that staff cared and really wanted to meet and keep the standards of North Lanarkshire to a high standard, not an easy task but working together we can do it. Thank you.'”
