St Andrew’s Nursery Class in Cumbernauld has received a very positive report following its latest Care Inspectorate inspection, with inspectors recognising the progress made and the positive experiences being created for children and families.
The nursery held a special celebration event on Friday 19 June to mark the excellent report.
The inspection highlighted major strengths in leadership and the quality of the nursery environment, awarding very good evaluations in both areas.
Inspectors praised the strong sense of inclusion and community across the nursery, noting that children benefit from a welcoming environment where families feel connected and involved. Staff were recognised for creating calm, nurturing spaces where children can play, learn and build confidence.
The report also highlighted the significant improvements made since the previous inspection, including enhanced indoor and outdoor play spaces, stronger family engagement and approaches that place children’s interests and voices at the centre of decision-making.
Head Teacher Marie-Claire Fiddler said: “We’re really proud of this report and what it says about the experience children and families have at St Andrew’s Nursery Class every day. It reflects the hard work, care and commitment of our whole team and the strong relationships we’ve built with families. Most importantly, it shows that children are happy, supported and enjoying opportunities to play and learn.”
Inspectors also recognised the nursery’s focus on continuous improvement, highlighting how staff work together to strengthen learning experiences and respond to the needs of children and families.
Councillor Michael McBride, Convener of Education and Families, said: “This is a fantastic result for St Andrew’s Nursery Class, and everyone involved. The report recognises not only the dedication of staff, but the positive and nurturing environment they have created for children and families.”
