The Watersports Centre at Strathclyde Country Park will close on Sunday 19 October 2025, following the October school holidays. The centre is scheduled to reopen in Spring 2027 after a major redevelopment.
During the closure:
- Public toilets will be available in Events Car Park 1
- The Heron pod will be open for drinks and snacks
- Organised use of the loch will continue, on a limited basis
- Meeting rooms and changing rooms will not be available
The refurbished building will be known as ‘Strathshore’ and it will be far more energy efficient and heated by renewable technology.
“The new Strathshore building will give park visitors better, more modern facilities. It will also create new chances for small businesses and activities that support health and wellbeing,” said Councillor Helen Loughran, Convener of the Environment and Climate Change Committee.
“By using energy-saving technology, the building will cost less to run and help tackle climate change. It’s a great way to give an old building a fresh, sustainable future.”
The new building will include:
- Space for small businesses to hire
- A ground floor café and seating terrace
- Improved facilities for accessibility
- A new base for the Countryside Ranger Service
- Space for outdoor education
- All the existing water sports and bike hire, plus refreshed changing rooms
