City Deal projects along the A8/M8

Eurocentral park and ride

Find out about our proposed park and ride at Eurocentral.

Improving transport links for businesses and employees

We propose to create a new park-and-ride facility at Eurocentral, including a bus interchange with approximately 250/300 car park spaces. The site has the potential to expand to provide up to 500 spaces in the future.

It will encourage a shift from private car to bus and reduce the number of car journeys on the M8. It will offer accessible parking for motorists with good public transport links into Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres.

The investment will support Maxim Business Park and improve accessibility to employment for local communities.

What's happening now?

We are exploring options for the park and ride and carrying out initial studies to determine the most appropriate proposal for the site.

We are working with our partners and landowners, Transport Scotland and Scottish Enterprise to develop this proposal further.

What's happening next?

Our next steps are to further develop the design proposals for the works for the submission of a planning application. We will then look to appoint consultants to prepare the detailed design and manage the work on site.

An outline business case will be prepared for approval by our Committee and Glasgow City Region City Deal Cabinet. This is a key stage in making sure the funding from the City Deal Infrastructure Fund is provided for the project.

Our timetable

  • further develop the proposal for the Park and Ride - during 2021
  • appoint consultants to develop the detailed design and project manage the construction work - late 2021
  • submit a detailed planning application for the proposal - spring 2022
  • submit the outline business case for approval - spring 2022
  • appoint contractors for the park and ride with work starting in early 2023 and completing in late 2023
