Once the preferred option is confirmed we will move forward to Stage 3 of the project.
Stage 3 will develop the design for the route option chosen. It will include:
- the preliminary design of the road
- funding approvals
- getting planning permission
We will continue to work with NHS Lanarkshire on the position for the new road within the Monklands Replacement Hospital preferred site at Wester Moffat.
We will consult with stakeholders through the Stage 3 design process.
All of this work and more will be required before we will be able to start building the road.
Our expected timetable
- started site investigation works - 2022
- start Stage 3 preliminary design - early 2024
- outline business case for City Deal funding - May 2024
- planning application - early 2025
- construction - 2028 to 2030 (two-year construction approximately)
