Airdrie Local Outcome Improvement Plan highlights 2024/25

In Craigneuk, the Old Petersburn Community Council worked with the Community Partnership Team to propose the development of a new play area for their community.

The Community Partnership Officer helped the organisations develop their proposals and undertake a community-wide consultation to ensure local support for the project. The project received endorsement from the Airdrie Community Board and the approval of our Communities Committee in 2023. Following the specification, design and procurement of the play area, work began to deliver this project in the summer of 2024. 

This play area was constructed in an area which had been identified due to a lack of formal children’s play facilities.

Since completion in October 2024, it has proved popular with local children and young people and provides an excellent opportunity for healthy outdoor play.

The play area also represents a significant investment of £100,000 in children and young peoples' play opportunities which has lead to health and wellbeing benefits.
