Pride in Place - Motherwell

Forgewood, North Motherwell and Town Centre has been awarded up to £20 million in funding from the UK Government's Pride in Place Programme to develop and deliver a Pride in Place Plan, setting out a vision for the area over the next ten years.

North Lanarkshire Council is the accountable body for the Pride in Place Programme funding in Motherwell and we are working with the local MP to establish a Neighbourhood Board, which has responsibility for developing the Pride in Place Plan and overseeing its delivery through Investment Plans.

The first step in this process is to appoint a Neighbourhood Board Chair, who will then work with us and the local MP to appoint board members.

Neighbourhood Board Chair - Expressions of Interest

The deadline for submission of Expressions of Interest for the role of Neighbourhood Board Chair has now passed.

Once a successful candidate for the Neighbourhood Board Chair role has been appointed, they will work with us and the local MP to appoint the other board members by mid-July 2026.

Next Steps

Further information on the Neighbourhood Board will be published here in due course. In line with UK Government guidance, board membership will be confirmed by July 2026.

A series of community consultation events will take place during 2026 to enable the development of the Pride in Place Plan and first Investment Plan. More information will be available here and across our social media channels, such as the My Motherwell Facebook page, soon.
