Self directed support for adults

Direct payments

Rather than having us co-ordinate your support, you can receive your budget as a direct payment paid directly to your own dedicated bank account.

You can then work with your social worker to organise your own care and support in a way that is meaningful for you.

A direct payment means you can:

  • have more control over how you are supported
  • use the direct payment to employ staff, use an agency or any other way which suits your situation
  • only use the direct payment to do the things in your support plan which you agree with your social worker
  • use a direct payment for all of your support needs, or just some of them and we can arrange the rest with you

Becoming an employer using a direct payment

Free impartial support and advice about employing staff using a direct payment is available from the Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living - GCIL.
