Gritting and roads

Gritting update

Friday 27th March 12:00hrs

Forecast

Bright spells and showers this afternoon, some of these sharp and potentially of hail which will make Road Surface Temperatures (RSTs) erratic. Showers will continue through the evening and tonight, turning increasingly to sleet and snow as the night goes on. RSTs close to or below zero with ice and snow hazards a risk. Further showers tomorrow morning - though not as wintry - with bright spells in between.

Snow accumulations of a couple of cm will likely be reserved for those roads above 200m, though with a covering of less than a cm possible where any showers track at lower levels.

Forecast minimum road surface temperature -0.9 degrees.
