How to make a 999 BSL call

999 BSL is the UK’s first ever Emergency Video Relay Service in British Sign Language. This free service launched in June 2022 and is now active. There will be two ways to reach the emergency authorities through 999 BSL:

This is a 24/7 service all year round. This is how to use the app to make a BSL emergency call:

  1. Open the app (needs downloading beforehand)
  2. Press the red button ‘Call 999 BSL now’
  3. Connect to a BSL interpreter within seconds from anywhere
