Developing new Local Housing Strategy 2026-2028

North Lanarkshire Council is developing a new Local Housing Strategy for 2026-2028 and we want to hear from you.

This sets out our vision and priorities for housing in North Lanarkshire over the next two years – including how we meet the housing and related needs of residents now and in the future.

Draft local housing strategy available below:

Why your views matter

Housing affects everyone, whether you rent or own your home, live in council or housing association housing, or are looking for your first place to live. We want the strategy to reflect the needs of people in our communities.

Your views will help us:

  • Understand local housing challenges
  • Plan for the right types of homes in the right places
  • Improve the quality, affordability and accessibility of housing
  • Make sure housing supports vibrant, sustainable, health and inclusive communities

How to get involved:

We are consulting on the draft strategy from 13 October to 15 December 2025. You can get involved in the following ways:

  • Complete our online survey here
  • Attend a local drop in session:

North Lanarkshire Tenants and Residents Conference, Saturday 1st November 9:00am – 2pm, Chryston Community Hub

Cumbernauld library, Wednesday 12th November 1pm – 3pm

Motherwell library, Thursday 13th November 10am – 12 noon

Bellshill library, Monday 17th November 1pm – 3pm

  • Register your interest to attend an online workshop on Microsoft teams by contacting our local Housing Strategy team for further information.
  • Send us your views by email to local housing strategy or post to Housing Strategy Team, 3rd Floor, Civic Centre, Windmillhill Street, Motherwell, ML1 1AB)

All responses will be carefully considered and will help inform the final version of the strategy.
