Disabled card

If you can't apply online, application forms are available from an SPT Travel Centre.

There are no Travel Centres in North Lanarkshire although the mobile travel centre occasionally visits the area. Details are available on the SPT website.

You will need:

• to provide a recent passport-style colour photograph
• current documentary evidence of your age and disability
• proof of your current address

You can use your National Entitlement Card to purchase your discounted travel ticket either before you travel, or once you board.

Most buses are now equipped with electronic ticket machines which read your card, however if your bus does not have one of these machines just show your card to the driver.

In order to gain the discounted travel, you have to use your most recently issued National Entitlement Card. Previously issued cards will not work and you will not be allowed to travel for free.

If you find that you have more than one card, you can check which is the most recent by looking at the last two digits on the long card number. Card numbers will end in 01, 02, 03 etc.

The card which ends in the highest number will be the card which was most recently issued, and should be used for travelling.

If you have a Disabled National Entitlement Card you should tell Strathclyde Partnership for Transport if you change address. Otherwise your replacement cards could be sent to the wrong address.

You must provide documentary proof of your new address - for example, a utility bill in your name, addressed to your new address. You can notify SPT of a change of address by one of the following methods:

If your card has been lost, stolen or damaged you can obtain a new one online at getyournec.scot or by contacting the SPT Travel Centre.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport will put a stop on the card so that you are not liable for any misuse of the card should it fall into the wrong hands. The replacement card will be posted to your home address in 5 to 10 days.

If your Disabled National Entitlement Card is due to expire, you can renew it online at getyournec.scot or Strathclyde Partnership for Transport will automatically send out a renewal application form. If you have not received this you should contact the SPT Travel Card Unit.
