View and comment on planning applications

Customer & Stakeholder Survey Now Live

We value your feedback. Please take a few minutes to complete our Customer and Stakeholder Survey to help us improve our planning services. Thank you for your input.

The survey will run from 1 October to 8 January 2027.

We receive hundreds of planning applications each year for permission to construct or alter buildings, including houses, offices, shops, warehouses, factories and leisure facilities.

We encourage comments to be submitted through our online planning system to support transparent and effective public participation in the planning process.

This system provides easy access to application information and supporting documents, and records representations directly against the relevant application. It also allows you to track progress and view published information throughout the decision-making process.

All planning applications are available to view online. To comment, you will first need to register with our planning system. You will be asked to provide your name, address and email address.

Our step-by-step guide explains how to register and submit your comments.

When submitting comments:

  • We can only consider comments that relate to material planning considerations.
  • Your comments will be published online and made available for public inspection.
  • We publish your name and address as part of the public planning record.
  • We will not publish your signature, telephone number, email address or any defamatory comment.
  • Comments submitted anonymously will not normally be accepted, as we must be able to verify that comments relate to valid planning process.
  • In exceptional circumstances, we will consider requests for an individual's name and/or address not to be published online where it is reasonable and proportionate to do so, for example where there are demonstrable and significant concerns relating to personal safety. If you believe this applies to you, please contact us by email before submitting your representation through the planning portal. Requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Comments from members of the public and neighbours must be submitted before the expiry of the neighbour notification period or any associated public advertisement period, whichever is later. Please note that this date may differ from the standard consultation expiry date displayed in the Important Dates section of the public portal. Standard consultations relate to statutory consultees and other organisations that must be consulted on relevant planning applications.
