Get Walking Lanarkshire

Important update

Some of our health walks have started again.

Please read the coronavirus guidance before deciding to join our walks. By taking part in a walk, you agree to adhere to the measures outlined in the guidance.

Please note - booking is now essential every time you would like to attend a walk.

We hope that more walks will restart soon, so do check back at a later time.

Introduction

Improve your health and wellbeing by walking more often

Walking is a great form of exercise. It is free, most people can do it, you don't need any special equipment and it has many health benefits.

To encourage people to walk more often we run a programme of weekly health walks covering both North and South Lanarkshire.

All walks are free, short and gentle and last no longer than one hour. Everybody is welcome to join and the walks are particularly suitable for people who are not very active, people with a health condition, those recovering from illness or injury and people who cannot walk very fast or far.

The walking routes are easy, uneven paths and steep inclines are avoided. With a walk leader at the front and at the back, you can walk at your own pace and nobody will be left behind.

Joining a health walk is a great way to meet new people, explore your local area and get healthier and happier at the same time.

Volunteering opportunities

Would you like to help others to become more active? Then volunteering as a health walk leader might be for you.

Free training will be provided. Please email getwalkinglanarkshire@northlan.gov.uk for more information.
