We've made improvements to our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) to make it easier for residents to dispose of their waste.
We have invested in new machinery to increase the capacity and efficiency of the skips provided for different types of waste. This reduces the time skips are unavailable while they are emptied or replaced.
New signage is being installed at the six centres making it clearer for residents to place waste in the appropriate skips and help recycle more materials. All the centres have also been resurfaced.
“Our six Household Waste Recycling Centres are free to use, open seven days a week and accept a wide range of materials for disposal and recycling,” said Councillor Helen Loughran, Convener of the Environment and Climate Change Committee.
“Residents can use their domestic bins to recycle paper, cardboard, glass, metal, plastic, food and garden waste and the HWRCs offer recycling for items including furniture, batteries and vapes, wood, electricals, rubble, gas bottles, scrap metal and bikes.
“Recycling is important for the environment, reducing carbon emissions, energy, pollution and the use of natural materials, and our HWRCs allow residents to dispose of their waste responsibly.”
Information about the council’s HWRCs, including opening hours and materials which can be recycled, is available at Recycling centres | North Lanarkshire Council.
