Coatbridge Local Outcome Improvement Plan highlights 2024/25

Senior Care Programme Meal Delivery Service and Lunch Club

The Senior Care Programme meal delivery service and lunch club supports older community members by improving mental health and wellbeing, reducing social isolation and helping to alleviate poverty.

How did the project come about?

Glenboig Development Trust continues to support and provide the Senior Care Programme meal delivery service and lunch club. This is a valuable service for older people throughout the local community ensuring service users get regular hot meals. The lunch club provides a chance to socialise whilst enjoying a meal.

What was the outcome?

Monthly, the service delivers approximately 440 hot meals, Monday to Saturday, and the lunch club has 80 to 90 attendees every month.

Older people across Glenboig and local communities in Coatbridge benefit from this regular hot meal delivery to their home which helps to support their health and reduces their financial outgoing on food, thus supporting them to stay out of poverty.
