Shotts Community Priorities Highlights 26/27

Alexander Peden School Skatepark, Harthill New Fencing

Active community engagement and participation in local development programme project.

The Alexander Peden School Skatepark, Harthill received Local Development Programme funding several years ago, but due to its location in a Primary School playground, there was no community access Monday to Friday after 3pm and Saturday, Sunday and School holidays

What was done?

The local community was successfully engaged through participation with the project highlighted as an agenda item within the community board. Community members identified the Local Development Programme project although completed was located within school grounds limiting access for local children to this community asset during times when the school was closed and gates were locked.

Outcome

The Alexander Peden School skatepark is now fitted with new fencing that ensures the security of the school building while providing unrestricted community access, offering local residents and children a safe space for recreation and relaxation.
