Town Action Plans

Introduction

Town Action Plans were developed and approved for Airdrie, Bellshill, Kilsyth, Motherwell, Wishaw and Shotts during 2023 and 2024. These plans are intended to help deliver the long-term Town Vision for each area.

The Town Action Plans were subject to a minor review in 2025 to ensure they reflect best practice, completed actions and changes in funding priorities.

Town Action Plans will now be reviewed every two years to allow local residents and organisations to inform these plans.

We have begun a review and are inviting individuals and groups to tell us what matters to them and help set the priorities for action.

Have your say on how you want your town to develop over the next ten years by completing our online survey or dropping in to one of our local events:

  • Kilsyth - Monday 14 September, 6:30pm start, Garrell Vale Community Centre, Haugh Road, Kilsyth, G65 9JW
  • Motherwell - Thursday 17 September, 6pm start, Kirk at the Cross, 43-47 Merry Street, Motherwell, ML1 1JJ

Following development of a Regeneration Plan for Coatbridge, as part of the UK Government's Pride in Place Programme, a Town Action Plan for Coatbridge will now be developed to compliment this.

Due to the significant scale of regeneration planned for Cumbernauld town centre, a masterplan will be developed for Cumbernauld from 2027. Keep up to date on the latest progress and get involved in consultations.

Workshops have already taken place in Airdrie, Bellshill, Kilsyth, Shotts and Wishaw during August and September 2026. All comments will be captured and a response will be prepared in advance of the publication of the new draft Town Action Plans.
